HyInHeat consortium meets in Bilbao to advance hydrogen heating solutions
On 24–25 March 2026, the HyInHeat consortium gathered in Bilbao for its General Assembly meeting, bringing together partners from across Europe to review progress and align on next steps.
During the meeting, partners presented updates across key work packages, including:
- Progress in hydrogen-based heating technologies for aluminium and steel production
- Results from ongoing demonstrator trials across multiple industrial sites
- Advances in measurement, control systems, and combustion modelling
- Updates on communication, exploitation, and policy-related activities
The consortium also discussed challenges and learnings from real-life demonstrator environments, including safety, operational integration, and performance optimisation.
Recent trials confirmed the technical feasibility of hydrogen combustion in industrial processes, while further testing and optimisation are ongoing to support large-scale implementation.
The meeting provided an important moment to align on the final phase of the project, with upcoming milestones focused on further trials, data analysis, and preparation for the final event in Brussels.
