Pierre-Yves Menet, CTEC

Can you shortly introduce yourself and your role in the HyInHeat project?

My name is Pierre-Yves Menet and I am in charge of Casting & Recycling Group at Constellium Technology Center, C-TEC.

How did Constellium get involved in the HyInHeat project?

C-TEC got involved in the project as a member of the EAA Innovation Hub. During an Innovation Hub board meeting, there was a call for interested parties to participate to what would lead to the creation of the HyInHeat consortium. C-TEC was the first Aluminium sector representative to express interest.

How do you see the added value of HyInHeat for Constellium?

The ambition of the project and its different work packages covers most of the areas of interest for Constellium: most of the energy intensive steps of our processes will be covered by demonstrators involving all the relevant stakeholders: industrial gas suppliers, equipment and materials suppliers, sensor suppliers, academia to support all the proofs of concept that are in the project scope.

What is the role of Constellium in the HyInHeat project?

C-TEC is in charge of one of the four Aluminium sector demonstrators (WP5), namely regarding the retrofitting of natural gas fired reverbatory furnaces with hydrogen – oxygen burners.

What do you hope to achieve by the end of the project?

The objective is to develop all the technology bricks and tools for retrofitting our existing furnaces, from recycling to heat treatment.
