D8.5 – Policy Mapping Document

This report presents an overview of the European policy and regulatory framework supporting the deployment of hydrogen technologies in industrial heating applications. It serves as a summary of the activities conducted within Work Package 8 of the HyInHeat project. Policy developments play a crucial role in accelerating industrial decarbonisation by creating the regulatory conditions, funding opportunities, and market incentives needed to support the transition towards hydrogen-based industrial processes.

The report analyses key European policies, legislative initiatives, and funding instruments that influence hydrogen adoption across energy-intensive industries. Particular attention is given to developments affecting the steel and aluminium sectors, including hydrogen market regulation, industrial decarbonisation policies, renewable energy targets, and strategic European initiatives. The findings provide stakeholders with a clear understanding of the evolving policy landscape and its implications for future hydrogen deployment.
